Peer Reviews
Peer reviews are one of the tools any writer should reach out to embrace. As with any writings that you do, you want to know what people think of your writing. Will it help someone, will it bring enlightenment to a subject that concerns your reader? There is no negative review, if they are done in the spirit of the guidelines set forth my the instructor. The comments should be viewed as a opening to make your writing better. When I first was introduced to peer reviews, I was scared because someone other than my teacher was reading my work. It became a review that I needed to make my writing better. It also gave me the boast I needed to clarify those things I did not clearly reveal. I really like the video peer reviews. You get to see and actually hear what your reviewer has commented about your work. Great addition to Kaplan's peer review process!

Oh Stephanie, tell me more about the video peer reviews please. How can we do this? In what class did they do this? I gotta' catch up!
ReplyDeleteI did this in my English I class last term. Our teacher just told us to submit our writings to the writing center for review. When I got mine back, I was told I had been chosen to participate in a test to see if this type of feedback would be helpful. Wellll, I loved it! I actually saw the person reviewing my paper and she suggested things for me to revise or edit. I filled out a survey afterwards about my experience. So, if they haven't done it yet, this must have been the test to see if it was a good thing. Too cool!
